Woman rescued off Manza Beach

Ishikawa Police sent letters of appreciation to the ANA Intercontinental Manza Beach Resort, Mamoru Iha and Tomoya Iha father and son, and Yohei Sakurai, for rescuing a local woman from a reef off the beach.

The woman had reportedly gone digging for clams on the reef on June 27, when she fell down in the shallow water about 200 meters offshore from the ANA Intercontinental Manza Beach Resort beach, and was unable to get up.

The men noticed her distress, when she was about to drown as the tide was coming in, alerted the resort beach lifeguards and called the police. The woman was rescued and taken to a hospital.

Reportedly, she remains hospitalized, but her condition is not life-threatening.
