Opera “Tosca” scheduled for Convention Center Theater
One of the world’s best known operas, “Tosca,” by Giacomo Puccini, will be staged at Okinawa Convention Center Theater in Ginowan City on Dec. 7th.
The performance is supported by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and is co-produced by theaters and art associations from all over Japan. Naomi Kawase, a movie director who won Grand Prix at Cannes Film Festival for her work “Mogari no mori”, is directing the opera, her first take on the art Tenor Takumi Yogi from Okinawa is also a part of the cast.
In addition to Okinawa, the same cast will perform Tosca in Tokyo, Kanazawa, Niigata and Uotsu in Toyama Prefecture. The orchestra for each of the performances will be selected among local musicians. In Okinawa, the Ryukyu Symphony Orchestra will play the music.
