Worldwide Eisa Festival 2017 to take place in November
The Worldwide Eisa Festival 2017, scheduled for Nov. 4 & 5 at National Theater Okinawa in Urasoe, will have 31 Eisa groups taking part, and in addition, 19 groups will vie for the championship in the creative Eisa competition part of the festival.
Mikako Nakata, the chairperson of the event organizing committee, said at a press conference on Monday, “We hope that all people who participate will unite for Eisa.”
During the festival, so called “Ajima Time” features performances of groups consisting of physically and mentally challenged persons dancing Eisa. The end of the last day will be broadcast on YouTV, a web video broadcast service.
Tickets for the preliminary contest, and children’s and junior part of the event are ¥1,500. Tickets for the final contest are ¥2,000.
