The “Okinawa Student Blood Donation Promotion Council”, a private volunteer group, is organizing an event to promote blood donations on the ground square of AEON Mall Rycom 1st floor at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Four performer groups, including the Modern Jazz Orchestra of the University of the Ryukyus and the Street Dance Club from Okinawa University will perform at the event calling for people to donate.

The blood drive will run from noon to 5 p.m. A gift package of sweets and bread will be given to all who donate blood.

There is always demand for blood during the winter season from December to February, , because many people become ill. Masashi Yamazato, a member of Okinawa Red Cross Blood Center, said, “We look forward to have as many donors as possible, especially young people.”
