Okinawa Mori No Nigiwai show tickets now available

Mori No Nigiwai Okinawa show “Brand New World – New Wind is Blowing in Okinawa,” an annual extravaganza featuring 700 performers of traditional Okinawan performing arts, will take place Jan. 20 & 21 at Okinawa Convention Center in Ginowan.

Tickets for the show are now available at convenience stores throughout Okinawa, and on line at “Tabi-to” & “Japanican” reservation websites managed by JTB, the show’s organizer.

This year the show marks its 35th year of “Mori No Nigiwai” performances in Okinawa. The show consists of 20 performances including Ryukyu dance, Shishimai, and Karate. A special performer this year is Kazufumi Miyazawa, an ex-singer of Okinawan rock band Boom, who sings two of his original songs about a legendary Okinawan folksong singer.

There will be two shows each day, starting at 0:30 and 4 p.m. Tickets to the show cost ¥2,800 including tax and a ¥500 meal ticket. The food ticket is good for “Aji No Nigiwai” food stands selling Okinawa Soba and Sata Andagi (Okiawan doughnuts).
